The Rotary Club of Barbados South is set to have its largest fundraising event this Saturday and persons are urged to come out and support.
This came from the President of the Rotary Club of Barbados South, Trevor Sealy, during their weekly fellowship meeting which was held at Accra Beach Hotel and Spa recently. The Club is a known registered charity in Barbados and aims to encourage and foster the idea of service as well as make various generous donations to persons in need throughout the year.
Treasurer of the Club, Brian Robinson, announced that the event on Saturday is to be held at the Frank Collymore Hall at 7:00pm is entitled “Caribbean Excellence.” He said it will feature a number of the local artistes such as 2 Mile Hill (which were formerly known as NexCyx),
G-Syndicate and Red Plastic Bag (RPB).
“This is one of the biggest fundraisers for the year,” Robinson said.
He added that this fundraiser was also a way for them to raise funds to fulfil their annual needs as a club. President Sealy went on to note that the hall was able to hold 480 people and expressed that it was his wish to see it filled.
Sealy also mentioned that they will also be hosting a Feed the Needy drive, Monday, February 27th and said that more details will be given closer to the date.
Also announced was the blood drive that The Rotary Club of Barbados West will be hosting this Saturday as well at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) Blood Bank. Representative of the Rotary Club of Barbados West explained that since February is known as the month of love, it should be a month where they find ways to give back to the community. She said that in the spirit of love they were going to donate blood to persons in need since the Blood Bank at the QEH is always in need of this resource for surgeries.
She said that the blood drive was going to be called “Give Blood for Love” and explained that if persons were unable to make it to the event on Saturday that they could go to the hospital for the rest of the month, mention the name of the Club so that the blood would be donated on behalf of the Club.
