THE Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) is calling out members of the general public to a Town Hall meeting today, to address issues surrounding the Caribbean Examinations Council.
Scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Ellerslie School, BSTU President Mary-Anne Redman told The Barbados Advocate that the meeting will provide an important forum.
According to the BSTU president, “The public can interface with us and engage us and have clarified for them our standing relation to School Based Assessments and the many other issues, including the recently introduced Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence and Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQs).”
“The teachers in some subject areas, for example Geography, Sociology and Home Economics, have es-pecially asked that this type of meeting be held because they are very disturbed by recent changes in the examination areas and the work loads that accompany the introduction of the CVQs.
“We are hoping the public will come out, ask questions and get clarifications and get the type of engagement that we need to have on this very important topic,” she said.
