Leandra Walcott was the lucky winner in the Caribbean Youth Environmental Network (CYEN) Wheel of Fortune competition while Shane Sargeant got the second prize. In the Ball Game, young Leon Leacock got the first prize while Kasim Queely got the second prize.

Walcott got a voucher from PomMarine, Sargeant got a $50 voucher from Burger King; Leacock got a tablet from Liberty Stores and Queely got a voucher also from PomMarine.

This is coming from the National Coordinator of the Caribbean Youth Environmental Network (CYEN), Sade Deane who spoke with the media yesterday prior to the start of the Agrofest Awards Ceremony at the Urban Development Commission (UDC).
She said that prize-giving was for those who would have participated in this premier agricultural festival last month.

“Today we are embarking on awarding those who would have participated in the exhibit at Agrofest 2017. This year we had exhibits of the unregulated garbage disposal programme. In addition to that we had the Wheel of future which allowed persons to learn a little bit more on the sustainable development goals – there are 17 of them. In addition to that, we had the ball game which also inked to the sustainable development goals.”

Four persons were awarded – two for the Incredible Ball Game and two for the Wheel of Future. With the ball game, you had to be lucky enough to pull an orange ball and if you did, then you had to answer a question as it relates to a sustainable development goal. The goals were provided and persons had to read and comprehend them.

She said that most persons that they would have spoken to on the day were not aware of the commitment required to attain these goals and as a result what the CYEN youth decided to have interactive displays. (PJT)
