The Wyndham Sam Lord’s Castle Resort will be a ‘game changer’.

According to Wyndham’s Vice-President of Operations for Latin America and the Caribbean, Eduardo Cruz del Rio, work was progressing well on the 21 000 square foot, 450 suite resort, which is set to open at the end of 2019.

He highlighted that the plant would be focused on attracting a wide cross-section of guests, from the business class to multi-generational families to millennials, while focusing on both luxury and responsible consumption.

Speaking at the Barbados Tourism Investment office in the Old Town Hall Building in Cheapside yesterday, he also told the media that the project was being done in compliance of all planning permissions.

“Any project around the world, be it a small project or such a large-scale project like this one will offer challenges on the road and we are ready to overcome them and to do whatever is required,” he said.

He stressed that all of its hotels complied fully with any type of regulation required “in order to operate fully to the local laws and regulations and we will overcome anything that is required”.
“So far we have been much involved in the design process so that we ensure that we are building a hotel resort for the future,” he added.

Acting General Manager for the Sam Lord’s Castle Development, Michael Phillips, said the plant would be the largest hotel real estate investment in the island’s history, employing up to 1 000 locals during operation.

He further noted that the resort had been designed to not only be water independent, but also use renewable power generation and with a waste water reclamation and treatment facility.

“In the design are hypoallergenic room environments, healthy restaurant options and world class gym facilities and innovations such as lighting optimised to the body’s circadian rhythm and vitamin C infused showers all planned to address concerns about physical and mental well-being, sugar and fat consumption, inactivity, stress, air and water quality,” he stated.
