Sandals Royal Barbados is on schedule to open its doors next Wednesday, December 20.
Public Relations Manager for Sandals Barbados, David Hinds disclosed this adding that the “newest hotel in the chain of Sandals” will comprise 222 suites.
He spoke on the side-lines of the Sandals Barbados’ annual Christmas Toy Drive at the Christ Church Girls School. Yesterday, members of the Sandals Foundation along with Santa Claus distributed presents to pupils of the school.
Speaking about bookings for the 2017 winter season, Hinds stated that at “the existing property, Sandals Barbados, bookings have been very good, sold. We have ran in the high 90s for the beginning of the season and the spill off into Sandals Royal, we are probably going to open around 80, 82 per cent in the opening week, but the bookings looking at the trend seems to rise coming into January. Both hotels should be at full occupancy or thereabouts”.
Turning his attention to speak about the recent issues that have been associated with the South Coast Sewage System, Hinds said the problem has not affected Sandals Barbados. However, it is concern for the hotel.
“We are concerned as members of the Christ Church community. Fortunately or unfortunately, it has not reached up by us as yet so we really have not had that issue to deal with but we have read and we sympathise with our hotels and businesses in the area and of course, we are willing to play our part as well. As you know, the environment is a key part of our Sandals and what the Sandals Foundation stand for, so we are opened to suggestions to assist and help the other businesses and residents of course in the area.”
