The sale of Hilton Barbados Resort is at an advanced stage.

Word of this comes from Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, while assuring Barbadians that they will be provided with the details “very soon”.
He indicated that talks are ongoing with a buyer, “Yes, there is someone who we have been talking to.”

“There is a negotiation taking place and there will be more to say when it is appropriate to do so.”

Sealy also told members of the press that “numerous parties” displayed an interest in the Needhams Point Property, and “the process by which the partner was selected was completely transparent”.

“It is at an advanced stage and we continue to advance those discussions and we will be of course discussing publicly exactly where we are going in that regard,” it was noted.

Position on Hyatt

The Tourism Minister is confident that the work on the Hyatt Hotel to be located on Lower Bay Street, The City will commence in the “fullness of time”.
Madam Justice Sonia Richards recently dismissed the application made by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to dismiss social activist and attorney-at-law David Comissiong’s application for Judicial Review of the multi-million-dollar construction of the 15-storey beach front property.

The High Court Judge ruled that Comissiong does have the standing to question Stuart, who is also the Minister responsible for the Town and Country Planning Department, decision to grant developer Mark Maloney’s company, Vision Development Inc, permission to go ahead with the project.
“The judge did what she had to do, and I will look forward to the developers doing what they have to do,” it was further stated.

“My understanding is that there is no injunction, there is nothing stopping the work on Hyatt from taking place, and I guess that in the fullness of time that will occur,” Sealy said. (TL)
