A bouncing baby girl has claimed the honour of being the first baby to be born in Barbados for the New Year 2018.
The new born was delivered at three minutes past two in the evening to mom, Tiffany Chase at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH). She weighed six pounds and 15 ounces.
This is the second consecutive year recently that a baby girl has been the first little one to be delivered at the start of a New Year on the island. In 2017, mom, Shakira Clarke gave birth to a baby girl, Sharaya Clarke at four minutes past three in the morning at the QEH.
The second baby to be born on January 1st was Shakai Maynard. He was delivered by mom, Shaina Maynard at two minutes past seven in the evening. Little, Shakai weighed eight pounds and four ounces.
Maynard told The Barbados Advocate that it was the second son for her and her husband, Paul Maynard. The new born entered into the world days ahead of his due date which was January 9th, 2018. Speaking about the delivery, she said all along she was “hoping for a healthy baby” which is what she received.
When a check was made at Bayview Hospital during the day on January 1st, no babies were born there.(MG)
