
Purple House with 816 points took care of business to dethrone the once mighty White House (778), who had dominated Belmont Primary Sports for the last few years. Orange was third with 754 points.
By a margin of 38 points Purple House finally achieved what had not been done for almost a decade – toppling the mighty White House at the Belmont Inter-House Sports Day.
With a total of 816 points, Purple House stamped their names in the history books at the National Stadium as the house that finally did the impossible. White, the defending champions were in second on 778 points, while Orange was close behind in third with 754 points.
Orange may have placed third but they cheered their champion as Teon Cadogan won, not only the U13 Division title, but was the overall boys Victor Ludorum champion with 52 points. He won gold in the 400 metres and 200 metres races, was second in the 800 metres, third in the Long Jump, and fourth in the High Jump and Cricket Ball Throw.
The Victrix Ludorum title was a tight race with three girls gaining more than 50 points in the championship. Purple House athlete Chiara Beckles and White House’s Tyesha White-Hall both piled on the points to share the title with 56 points. Beckles who was also the U13 Girls Champion was first in the High Jump, 400 metres, 200 metres and 100 metres and second in the Long Jump and 600 metres. White-Hall crossed the line first in the 400 metres and the potato race and won silver in the Long Jump, Cricket Ball Throw and 200 metres and also bronze in the High Jump and 100 metres to claim the U11 Girls Championship.
Devon Blades also ran well on the day and earned himself and the former champions the U11 Boys title. U9 Girl Deann McKenzie was the other young lady who broke into the 50’s. The Purple House runner took home the U9 championship with 54 points. Jayden Walker of White House and Purple’s Keon McKenzie both finished the day with a 30-point performance which helped them to share the U9 Boys Division honours.
The U7 Boys title went to Trivonte Deaner of Purple House with 20 points while Selina Gittens-Marks of Orange and Tahlia Selman of White were joint U7 Girls champions with 48.
