With regards to taking all necessary precautions, Kerry Hinds, Director of the DEM, communicated word from the Ministry of Education that all primary and secondary schools will be closed today, Wednesday, as well as the Barbados Community College, the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic and Erdiston Teachers’ Training College. Furthermore, persons are being asked to listen out for when these institutions will re-open.
In addition, meting out advice as well was Lisa Gayle, Executive Director of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce. Gayle advised businesses to close as early as possible, taking not only their businesses into consideration, but their employees as well. She went on to say that it is important that business owners secure businesses and stay tuned on updates on whether they should be opening for business tomorrow.
As the inclement weather continues, persons are being urged to continue to stock up on water, batteries and dry goods. (PRF)
