The Dominican Frairs giving the final goodbye to the late Father Peter Clarke.
Many persons gathered at the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church yesterday morning to celebrate the life of the late Father Peter Thomas Clarke, OP.
Based on the tributes read by Father Charles Dominique, OP and Archbishop Father Louis Fergus, OP, it was clear that the late Father Peter Clarke lived a full, Godly life.
Father Dominique praised the life of Father Clarke, highlighting that he was a man that lived a fruitful life.
“I think we can all agree that Father Peter had a long life, and he had a lot of time to leave his mark on the world,” he said.
“But I don’t think he sat around thinking about how he was going to change the world. No, he simply lived his life in the way that God called him to and in the process, many lives were affected in a positive way. And one thing that could be said about Father Peter was that he enjoyed living his life and hanging out.”
According to Father Dominique, Father Peter spent a lot of this time writing, and not only typing on the computer but writing.
“That’s Father Peter for you; he wasn’t tech savvy and he knew when to put aside the computer so that he could interact with people,” he said.
“Father Peter could also connect with anyone. And he did not stop living even as his body began to show wear and tear and that’s something that we can learn from him. His mind was clear and his voice was clear. He kept living.”
He noted that after the death of a loved one, many persons were sad, but this should not be the case. He believed that we should celebrate and rejoice that Father Peter had the opportunity to live a long life, and not only did he live a long life, but he enjoyed his life and spent it doing things to please God.
Father Fergus echoed Father Dominique’s sentiments and added that Father Peter was an inspiration to all of us as he lived a life pleasing to God.
