Bayview Hospital Administrator, Julie Reid, as she delivered remarks.

AS a part of Bayview Hospital’s efforts to improve and upgrade their healthcare delivery system, their future plans comprise expanding their services to include urgent care.

This was revealed by Bayview Hospital’s Administrator, Julie Reid, as she delivered the opening remarks during the unveiling of the hospital’s new Intensive Care Unit yesterday evening.

“We remain focused to fulfil our vision to be the number one choice for private healthcare in Barbados for the management of emergency care; pre-, intra- and post-surgical care; medical treatment and interventions; obstetrics and gynaecological care; and allergy testing and treatment,” she said.

“I must add that this current enhancement [the new ICU] is in fact just one of a series of projects we have been undertaking, and will continue to roll out over the coming years, to maintain our international standard
of healthcare delivery, and to be the best private health facility in Barbados and the region.”

In keeping with this, Reid went on to elaborate and gave an overview of some of the significant investments that they have made at Bayview over the past three years.

“We have introduced an Allergy Testing and Treatment service to provide specific allergy-related care. Dr. Hillary Moore is heading this service with her wealth of specialist knowledge and experience in allergies, which has included a Bayview-sponsored training period in Israel alongside internationally respected Allergy and Immunology specialist, Professor Rottem,” she said.

“We have renovated our private room accommodation, which also now includes a newly-constructed modern Private Suite. This room comfortably holds two people and a crib, which has so far been utilised by new parents, as well as by older couples who do not wish to be apart.”

Reid excitedly announced that they also have reduced their deposit requirements for procedures, including for maternity patients, which will make it even easier for Bayview to be the preferred private healthcare provider for the general public.

To add to this, she revealed that they also now have a variety of new payment plans to suit everyone’s requirements, both for the insured and non-insured patients. (CLF)
