Local beauty, skin care brand debuts at Bridgetown Market

Marlene Mayers, owner of MSM Naturals created the line of products due to her need to use products which are made for people with sensitive skin. Her range of soaps, lotions, hair oils and lip balms were on display at Bridgetown Market yesterday.

Despite the overcast skies and heavy rainfall, a bubbly Marlene Mayers was happy to display her new brand of beauty and skin care products at Bridgetown Market.

The 40-year-old entrepreneur showcased a range of natural soaps, lotions and lip balms which featured her initials “MSM”.

Mayers told The Barbados Advocate that the product line, MSM Naturals started in April of this year. She explained that she came up with the idea to make these products because of her sensitive skin.

Her skin care products include fragrant “Mango Tango”, skin healing Moringa and Turmeric, and skin cleansing Charcoal and Goat’s milk soaps. She also makes Mango Tango and Sow Asop lotion, lip balms made with mint and after-shower hair oil made with jojoba oil.

She said that she learnt this skill at Studio Kinema operated by Timothy Prescott. Mayers noted he conducts classes at Windsor High School, Bank Hall and there will be a hair workshop taking place at the end of August.

At her booth, she was also advertising his hand-painted T-Shirts, teapots and mugs along with beaded jewellery made by one of her colleagues.

Her experience at Bridgetown Market has been encouraging and she said that people have told her that they like what they are seeing.
