Saint Michael PIC hand over ceremony held

The St.Michael Parish Independence Committee and the 2019 St. Michael Parish Ambassadors are leaving the task of continuing the work of the Committee to 2020 Parish Ambassadors, Jeremy Jemmott and Reaiah Harris.

On Sunday, the past ambassadors and winning Parish Ambassador team “Most Outstanding Parish Ambassadors for 2019”, Jaleel Shannon and Lisa Harewood along with Attendant, Nikita Drakes officially handed over the St. Michael Parish Ambassador sash to Harris and Jemmott during the installation service at the Bank Hall Church of the Nazarene.

Chairperson, St. Michael Parish Independence Committee, Rasheed Drakes said that the objective of the Parish project, “We Heritage, We Culture, We Parish”, was to encourage the
residents of St. Michael to appreciate the parish’s rich history and heritage. He told the congregation that last year, the committee won the productivity award for the project which is a two-year exercise.

“We are hoping that this year, we can completely get Parish Project of the Year,” said Drakes.

This year’s ambassadors have a diverse background; Reaiah Harris is a trained teacher in Mathematics who currently teaches Science. A former student of St. Mary’s Primary School and the Alleyne School, this 24-year-old holds an Associate Degree in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics from Barbados Community College (BCC) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of the West Indies (UWI).

Her colleague, 18-year-old Jeremy Jemmott is a former student of St. Stephen’s Primary School and the St. Leonard’s Boys Secondary School. He has attended the Barbados Vocational Training Board and possesses certificates in Computer Application, Information Technology and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Both are Christians and share an appreciation for sports and community outreach. Their attendant is Darren Burke an active member of the Church of the Nazarene.
