Visitors to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital seeking to have their prescriptions filled were greeted with new system when they reached the Martindale’s Road facility on Tuesday.
A temporary waiting area was erected just outside the main entrance and saw persons making use of tents for shelter from the elements and chairs for seating.
An arrangement that would otherwise be a strange sight, it was reported to The Barbados Advocate by hospital staff that the set-up was put together to accommodate the number of people seeking to collect their medications.
With the local COVID-19 response being ramped up to Stage 2 over the weekend and calling for public gatherings of no more than 25 persons, it was revealed that persons have been coming in droves to get their prescriptions filled and causing large numbers inside the building. To mediate the issue, persons are being asked to wait outside under the new system as they transact their business.
