RPB delivered an uplifting performance of his hit I am Alive while urging workers in the sector and Barbadians to stay focused and stay the course.

MEMBERS of the tourism sector along with other members of the general public came together on Friday for a virtual House Party.

With many in the sector being severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Island Jam House Party for Tourism Employees, was one of the initiatives of the Human Resources Development sub-committee of the Barbados Recovery Tourism Task Force to give the workers a boost during this challenging time.

On Friday night, workers let their hair down as they were given an opportunity to see what Crop Over 2020 would look and sound like with a number of soca artistes performing some of their past hits and new music even though the 2020 Crop Over festival has officially been cancelled.

Performing live were iWeb, Blood, Mikey, Hypa Sounds, Faith and Stedson “RPB” Wiltshire along with Stress the DJ who kept the soca party flowing.

Persons viewing from the comfort of their own home were also treated to demonstrations by Chef Henderson Butcher, Team Manager of the Barbados Culinary Team who showcased his skills with fried cou cou and creole saltfish, giving a twist to Barbados’ national dish, adding some international flavour. Award-winning mixologist also showcased his skills creating an eye-catching and mouthwatering “Iza Bajan” cocktail.

The Task Force has created a Barbados Together Continuous E-learning Programme, a series of webinars designed to help them upgrade or refresh their skills during the downtime caused by COVID-19. The sessions were designed to equip participants with information and tools they could use to protect themselves and their families during this period of uncertainty.
On Monday June 8 a session entitled: Managing your Personal Finances will be hosted by finance experts, Melinda Belle and Cheryl Corbin. On Wednesday, June 10, Norma Shorey of Catalyst Consultants will host a webinar on the topic, Leading in Times of Crisis: COVID-19 & Beyond, where attendees will be taught new techniques on team leadership. Maintaining your Physical and Mental Health will be the focus on Friday, June 12where participants will be led by Rev. Anderson Kellman and Mentor and Coach, Ian Blanchard. (JH)
