Political newcomer, Floyd Reifer, is assuring the constituents in St. George North that he is in it for the long haul.
His comments came recently during a spot meeting at Flat Rock, St. George as he endeared himself to that community, and outlined some of the plans he has for the constituency, should he win the by-election on November 11th.
“I have a vision for St. George North, a good vision. It is a vision for community empowerment and opportunities for all. Everyone that has something to contribute must be able to do so, whether they vote red or blue, whether they’re old, young or in between,” he maintained.
Reifer’s comments came as he questioned why with all the technology and skills available in the constituency, young men and women still could not get assistance to pursue a business idea or even a community project. The political hopeful maintained that this was unacceptable and needed to be addressed.
“I am going to change that. In 2020, our farmers struggle to sell their produce and we got so many community centres and open spaces that we can help them; we can set up weekly farmers’ markets. This is not good enough, lack of opportunities again,” he said.
The DLP candidate added, “I am listening to you Flat Rock, I have plans and I hear you and I am coming in the coming weeks and beyond, we will continue to have these conversations. I am in this for the long haul – time for big works, not words”.
Reifer said while there is concern about what he can do for constituents in Opposition, he insisted that he has been able to light a fire under Government already.
“I shot a video by the woods and what happened? This happening, the woods getting clean up. I shoot a video by The Glebe, by the so-called pavilion that was building long time – blocks gine up. I gine light a fire under this Administration and shed light on the issues that have been plaguing us for years... My voice will sound loud for the people of St, George North, my voice will ring out for the people of Flat Rock. I will be relentless in bringing attention and action to your concerns and your needs”.
Reifer maintained he is promoting honesty, and will not make the constituents any “empty promises”. The DLP candidate told those within the hearing of his voice that the country cannot continue down that path as he said that he is ready to serve.
“This is a chance to show who we are. This is a chance for the Democratic Labour Party to rise. On November 11th, I’m calling on all the DLP supporters in Flat Rock and beyond, come out and vote for Floyd Reifer. I am calling on all the Barbados Labour Party supporters to take a stand, send a message; end the disrespect – vote for Floyd Reifer, vote for change,” he stated.
