Member of Parliament (MP) for St. Michael North West, Neil Rowe, is the new Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.
He was elected yesterday during the morning session of the sitting of the House of Assembly, before the start of Government Business.
Rowe, who was previously the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, takes up the new post following the resignation of former Member of Parliament for St. George North, Gline Clarke, who is set to become this country’s High Commissioner to Canada.
The recommendation of the first-time MP for the post, was made by Leader of Government Business, Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Santia Bradshaw and seconded by Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Dale Marshall, before it was put to a vote and approved.
