Students of the St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School have been encouraged not to settle, but to always aim high in their endeavours.
This advice came from Reverend Jamal Medas, who delivered the feature address during the school’s Speech Day and Prize-Giving Ceremony on Tuesday in the auditorium. He further reminded that “the first step in aiming high is preparation”.
“Students of the St. Leonard’s Boys’, I want to encourage you in this season to never settle, to never be normal, but always to aim high because with God all things are possible.”
Medas, who is an old scholar of St. Leonard’ s Boys’, also told the pupils not to allow their beginnings to determine what they achieve or where they aspire to go in life.
“It is not where you came from, it is what you do with the time that you have. Where you came from should never determine where you are going. You start here, but this is not your final destination and we must never allow anyone to define us based on our last name, based on the community we live in, our society or based on the car that you are driving, but you have to know who you are and that identification comes from within.
That wherever you go, you can aim high because you are never allowing your starting point to determine your next step.”
Speaking to parents, he encouraged them to speak positive and uplifting words to their children. He additionally reminded pupils that they “have some of the best teachers in this island” and that “quality is produced out of this school”.(MG)
