A special Kiwanis Christmas Sip and Paint and Christmas Social event was held on Saturday to raise funds for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s (QEH) Neo-natal Intensive Care which needs critical items for its department.
President of the Kiwanis Club of Bridgetown Young Professionals, Halcyon Wiltshire-Busby indicated this during a brief interview on the sideline of a Kiwanis Club handing over ceremony recently.
Wiltshire-Busby said that the hospital department has a special place in their hearts and it was important to give back during Christmas. It is also the first time the club is assisting the Neo-natal Intensive Care. The department requires donations of diapers, wipes, clothes for premies, and a television.
The Kiwanis President added that this specific department is performing a critical job as the staff members care for babies who are ill and are born prematurely.
On Saturday, at the UWI staff lounge at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Kiwanis held the final social event for Kiwanis members for the year as many of the club’s events were curtailed due to the effects of the pandemic. Over the weekend, twenty guests enjoyed wine and had an opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities by painting a scenic landscape during a Sip and Paint activity.
