Dangerous and Reckless! On Wednesday, after damaging two houses, a utility pole with a street lamp and several power lines along St.Stephen's Hill, an unidentified reckless driver climbed on the truck to remove the lines (one electrical) and quickly drove away.

It was an eventful Wednesday for residents along upper St. Stephen's Hill, St. Michael when a reckless driver passed through the area and damaged an utility pole and two houses.

The unidentified driver, who was transporting several large skips, traveled on the busy road, snagging low-lying power lines.

Around 12:21 pm, the traffic in the area came to a standstill when the driver, who realised that he was pulling on the lines, stopped but then continued to descend the hill.

Despite the alarm of motorists and residents, the persistent driver made his way along the narrow roadway.

After the large truck pulled down the power lines, it stopped again when a street light was broken and a portion of wood from two adjacent houses came down.

The Barbados Advocate was in the area at the time and observed the disturbing incident. The driver got out, removed the lines from the top of the vehicle, and drove away. One brave taxi driver removed one of the power lines from the road so other vehicles could pass through. After he left, the power line started to spark and momentarily lit blades of grass along the side of the road.

Residents reported the incident to the Barbados Light and Power Company and Flow Barbados, which quickly dispatched servicemen to the area. The pole, which was leaning before due to a large vehicle pulling on its utility lines, will be removed and replaced with a new pole.
