Reverend Hugh Sandiford of the St. Matthias Anglican Church.

One local religious leader is reminding Christians that God sees them and He does not focus on their outward appearances.

Reverend Hugh Sandiford of the St. Matthias Anglican Church gave this homily yesterday.

He explained that God sees them because they are important and people do not have to associate themselves with other people to be seen.

In his sermon, Reverend Sandiford spoke about the calling into Christianity by referring the story of Jesus who called Nathanael and Philip.

The preacher asked the congregation how they were called to Jesus. He asked if they were called by their parents who brought them to church every week; or a relative or friend who shared their encounter with God. He added in some cases it can be a personal experience due to an individual’s curiosity.

“How were you invited into that relationship?” asked Rev. Sandiford.

He noted that in and through this relationship, Christians can experience God’s love. He said once they have experienced the love, they will be excited like Philip in the Bible and share the notion of having Jesus in their life.

“In our times of loneliness, in our times of anxiety, in our moments of depression, in our emptiness caused by the pain of death, we are confident that Jesus is right there with us,” said Rev. Sandiford.

The preacher said that wherever there is a need, Jesus is right there for them.

He added that Christians must heed the Word of Christ and be enlightened by the scripture while sharing the love of God.
