Karen Adams is the grand prize winner of the Barbados Cancer Society (BCS) 2016 Car Raffle.

Yesterday, President of the BCS, Dr Dorothy Cooke-Johnson, and Philip Bynoe, Hyundai Sales Manager at Courtesy Garage presented an excited Adams with the keys to her brand new Hyundai Grand i10 Saloon car.

“This feels surreal. From the moment I received the call until now, it feels surreal. I didn’t actually believe I won until I found my ticket; I thought I was being punk’d,” expressed Adams who bought the winning ticket from CGM Gallagher.

Second prize, a trip for two to continental USA/Canada was presented to Anthony Douglin. Shelia Tobiere won third prize, a Frigidaire Appliance compliments Massy Stores. The fourth prize, a Patio Table and four Chairs from Oran Ltd went to Shamar McClean, while Abzood Hamed won fifth place, a weekend for two at The Atlantis Hotel.

Dr Cooke-Johnson took the opportunity to thank the winners for supporting the raffle. She explained that it forms the core budget of the Barbados Cancer Society programme and that every ticket sold is absolutely appreciated because it helps the fight against cancer.
The BCS President also acknowledged that ticket sellers worked extremely hard and that ticket sales this year were good.

“We would have liked to sell them all, but I think we sold more than last year; people were very kind,” she pointed out.

“The Society wishes to express its appreciation to CBC, to the Barbados Turf Club for the use of its wheels, to the generous donors, to Courtesy garage for its concessions and to everyone who participated to make the raffle a success.” (TL)
