The Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society (BVHS) will be lending a helping hand to persons in dire need, when it hosts its Health for the Homeless Fair in Queen’s Park, this Saturday, starting at 9:00 a.m.

President of the Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society (BVHS), Kemar Saffrey however stressed that the target is homeless persons and those in dire need and as such, those who can fend for themselves should not attempt to benefit from the services which will be on offer during the day’s event.

The Health for the Homeless Fair is being held this year in partnership with Unicomer (Barbados) Ltd. trading as Courts Barbados and volunteers will be on hand at booths set up in the Park to assist in handing out food and clothing to the homeless.

There will also be the customary health checks such as HIV testing and blood sugar and blood pressure checks and homeless persons will also be able to get free haircuts during the Fair.

In the past, it has been noted that some Barbadians have been turning out to the annual event and benefiting from the free services offered, though they are not classified as homeless.

The BVHS has however been vetting those persons who turn up, to ensure that only those truly in need, benefit from the Fair’s free offerings. (RSM)
