Students at the Workman’s Primary School in St. George are enjoying improved amenities with the assistance of Sagicor General Insurance Inc. (SGI).
Management and staff of the company recently joined with teaching staff to repaint the bathrooms at the rural school as part of an ongoing enhancement project.
According to Assistant Vice President, Marketing at Sagicor General, Roger Spencer, the school was adopted by the company last year, under a Sagicor Group initiative, and they have been partnering with staff and parents for the benefit of the school.
“We at Sagicor General are very proud to have adopted Workman’s Primary. Over the past year, we have worked with the school on several projects and we are committed to improving the lives of students and teachers at the institution,” said Spencer.
Along with painting of the bathrooms, some of the other projects undertaken by Sagicor General include co-ordination of a mentorship programme for Class 4 girls at the Barbados Golf Club, assistance with their graduation ceremony at Sunbury Plantation House and support for an excellence in reading project.
Earlier this year, SGI partnered with literacy promoter Gabrielle Gay, to launch the “Gabrielle Davida Gay Trophy For Excellence In Reading”, which was awarded to the Most Improved Class 4 student during the annual graduation ceremony.
